An award-winning journalist (Globe & Mail, Toronto Star) and author of five books, Judy Steed has 30 years experience as professional writer, editor and ghostwriter. The recipient of four National Newspaper Award citations, and one National Magazine Award, she received Canada’s most prestigious journalism honour, the Atkinson Fellowship in Public Policy, for BOOMER TSUNAMI, her series on aging, demographics, and neuroscience.
Among her non-fiction books are bestsellers: ED BROADBENT: PURSUIT OF POWER (1988, Penguin Books), taught in university political science courses across Canada. And OUR LITTLE SECRET: CONFRONTING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN CANADA (1994, Random House), with documentary rights purchased by CBC-TV. An acclaimed documentary, THE CHOIRMASTER, was produced, with Judy appearing on screen, based on the first chapter of her book.
She has worked as a ghostwriter on four other non-fiction books. She was also a film and TV editor, and co-produced Joyce Wieland’s feature film, THE FAR SHORE, winner of three Canadian Film Awards, Judy studied screenwriting and is writing screenplays.
